Prague

to the fullest! To help save money, time and hassle, we have created a DOs
& DON'Ts list to guide you around Prague.
DOs
- Do try Czech locally brewed beers

- Do try Czech food in a traditional Czech restaurant.
- Do get lost in the small streets of Old Town.
- Do get out of the city centre to experience the real Prague - see our alternative Prague tours.
- Do enjoy your viewpoint in a park overseeing the whole city (Vyšehrad, Petřín, Letná, Vítkov parks).
- Do try alternative bars which offer beers, flavored fizzy drinks and friendlier customer service.
- Do use the inexpensive and well-connected Prague public transport.
- Do give tips, the Czechs appreciate that! :) Usual tip is between 5% and 10% of the total bill.
- Do learn some basic Czech words such as 'Hello', 'Thank you', 'Bye'. Check our basic online Dictionary.
- Do get
connected, Prague is a smart city! You should get free WiFi in most bars, cafes and
restaurants, shopping centres and even in some parks (i.e. Petřín).
DON'Ts
- Don't spend too much in restaurants, cafes and/or
bars around the Old Town Square; these can be expensive tourist traps.
- Don't look for tour recruits around the Old Town Square; these can be expensive tourist traps.
- Don't wear high-heels when walking around Prague; the city centre is full of cobbles!
- Don't buy a beer over 50 CZK, the usual price for a half litre beer is 45 CZK.
- Don't exchange money in the Old Town Square nor in the streets.
- Don't catch taxis in the streets, for example use Uber, Taxify, etc.
- Don't assume everyone speaks English, ask first. :)
- Don't be surprised if you are asked to pay a deposit on a drinking glass during festivals or outside bars. You'll get your money back as soon as you return the glass, or you can always keep the glass as a souvenir! :)
- Don't be surprised nor offended if you receive unfriendly customer service in the Czech Republic, it is part of the whole experience! But let's give them some credit, they are slowly getting better! :)
